Drone filming in the De Peel CTR

The Peel, on the Brabant–Limburg border · EHDP · what it takes and how Skymotion handles it

Raised bog, forests and wide views: the Peel has its own rugged feel. In the middle of it lies De Peel Air Base with a military CTR. Since 1 September 2026 LVNL also assesses drone requests here and coordinates with military air traffic control. The Peel's nature areas have provincial rules on top.

The De Peel CTR covers the area around De Peel Air Base, on the Brabant–Limburg border. Exactly where the boundary and zones run differs per spot — we check that per location. Want to see where the CTR is yourself? It is on the GoDrone map ↗.

What it takes to fly in the De Peel CTR

  • An operational authorisation in the Specific category from the Dutch ILT with the CTR privilege. Skymotion holds one.
  • A mission plan, which we file. Since 1 September 2026 LVNL assesses requests for military CTRs centrally and coordinates with the air base's air traffic control. File well in advance: military activity decides when there is room.
  • On the day, contact with military air traffic control as agreed in the approved mission plan.
  • An approved plan is not a guarantee: the controller gives final permission at the time. So build a buffer into your shoot day.
  • Permission from the landowner or municipality where you take off and land, and a filming permit where needed.
  • In and around Natura 2000 areas, provincial rules apply on top (sometimes an exemption). We check that separately.

How we handle it

  • We check the location first: which zone does the shot fall in, what is needed and is there an easier alternative nearby?
  • We file the mission plan and coordinate the shooting times.
  • Over roads and public space we only close off during the take, with traffic marshals; for take-off and landing we keep 25 metres clear.

Frequently asked questions

Can you film with a drone in the Peel, on the Brabant–Limburg border?

Yes, with the right authorisation. The De Peel CTR is military: we file the mission plan with LVNL, which coordinates with military air traffic control. On the day, the tower gives final permission.

How far ahead should I plan a drone shoot in the De Peel CTR?

As early as possible. Military activity decides when there is room, so the earlier we file, the more choice of shooting times.

Does anything change on 26 November 2026 in the De Peel CTR?

No. The new CTR zoning of 26 November 2026 applies only to the civil airports Schiphol, Rotterdam, Groningen, Maastricht and Lelystad. Military CTRs stay as they are.

What frequency is the De Peel CTR tower on?

Eindhoven Tower on 131.005 MHz; also Volkel Tower 136.080, Dutch Mil Info 132.350. CTR vertical limits: Ground to 3,000 ft (± 900 m) above sea level (airspace class D). Source: AIP Netherlands, AIRAC 10-2026. Which frequency applies on the day is set in the approved mission plan.

Can you check whether my location works?

Yes. Send the address or a pin, the date and the shot you want. We check which zone it falls in, what is needed and whether there is an easier alternative nearby.
